  34. In order to play back the converted files created by SmartVid, you will
  35. need Video for Windows 1.1d or later and/or QuickTime for Windows 2.0 or
  36. later.

  39. INSTALLATION:
  40. ------------
  41. SmartVid is distributed in a password protected compressed file, INTEL.EXE.  
  42. This file contains the application SmartVid. 
  43.

  45. To install SmartVid for DOS perform the following steps:
  46.  
  47. [Steps 1 through 3 should already have been done]
  48.  
  49.  1) Created a directory called smartvid in c:\smartvid.
  50.  
  51.  2) Copy the smartv.exe file to C:\smartvid.
  52.  
  53.  3) Expand the self-extracting archive file by typing smartv.exe
  54.  
  55.  4) Type intel.exe -ssmartVb3 -d
  56.  
  57.         This will create the following
  58.  
  59.         C:\smartvid\dos
  60.         C:\smartvid\dos\smartvid.exe
  61.         C:\smartvid\dos\readme.txt
  62.         C:\smartvid\windows
  63.         C:\smartvid\windows\smartvid.exe
  64.         C:\smartvid\windows\readme.txt
  65.         
  66.  5) Add the above path, C:\smartvid\dos, to your PATH
  67.     in the autoexec.bat file.

  71.         set PATH=%PATH%;C:\smartvid\dos

  74. To install SmartVid for Windows perform the following steps:
  75.  
  76.  1) Open Windows and create a SmartVid group by selecting the File-New menu
  77.     from the Program Manager.
  78.  
  79.  2) Select Program Group from the Dialog Box and click OK.
  80.  
  81.  3) Enter 'SmartVid' as the Description and click OK.
  82.  
  83.  4) Create a SmartVid icon by selecting File-New from the Program Manager
  84.     menu
  85.  
  86.  5) Select Program Item from the Dialog Box and click OK.

  88.  6) In the Command Line section, enter the complete path of the SmartVid 
  89.     executable (C:\smartvid\windows\smartvid.exe).

  91.  7) Click OK and you are ready to run SmartVid for Windows.
